Internship Bali Abroad

Must goes: Islands around Bali

Must goes: Islands around Bali

AE Internships will take you to the most perfect islands of your dreams around Bali. The island Bali itself is of course already beautiful but we can imagine that when you are so far away from home you are also curious about all the beauty around Bali. Asia is a beautiful continent with thousands of islands. We give you the most special highlights, tips and instructions about the islands in this blog.

Island Satu (one) Gili Islands🏝

East of Bali, off the coast of Lombok, are the three paradise Gili Islands - Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air. Three different bounty islands, each with its own atmosphere. The largest island is Gili Trawangan and is especially popular with partying backpackers. 🎒Gili Meno is the middle island and has the most beautiful beaches of the three and good diving spots like the Meno Wall. After 9 p.m. there is hardly anything to do, so Gili Meno is mainly an island for people looking for peace and quiet and families. Gili Air is closest to Lombok and in terms of crowds falls between Gili Trawangan and Gili Meno. Here you will find the most beautiful accommodations of the three Gili islands (Tip: Slow Gili Air). Motorised transport is prohibited on all three islands, so you must travel by bicycle, on foot or by horse and cart.
The Gili Islands are reached by boat from Bali or Lombok. Accommodation can be arranged on the spot outside the high season, but in the low season it is better to book in.

Island Dua (two) Nusa Lembongan (Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Penida)🏝

Just south-east of Bali are the three islands of Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Penida. On Nusa Lembongan, you will find the most accommodations and this is also where most of the boats from Bali dock. It is a lovely compact island that is perfect to explore by scooter. 🛵Narrow roads will take you to beaches such as Dream Beach and Sandy Bay Beach or make a stop at the Devil's Tear, where waves spectacularly crash against the rocks.

▫️Secret Beach on Nusa Ceningan

You could cross to the even smaller neighbouring island of Nusa Ceningan via the yellow 'suspension bridge', but it collapsed in October 2016 killing 9 people. Currently, the bridge is being repaired and you can cross via boats. On Nusa Ceningan you will find the Blue Lagoon, Secret Beach and a viewpoint to Nusa Penida.

▫️Angel's Billabong

Nusa Penida is the largest of the three islands and also the most unspoilt. It has beautiful cliffs and bays such as Angel's Billabong, Pasih Uwug and Atuh Beach and there are some great dive spots around the island. 🤿Manta Point is the place to spot manta rays and at Crystal Bay, among others, you have the chance to see the giant Mola Mola. For a visit to Nusa Lembongan you can go to Riksja Indonesia or Van Verre.

Island Tiga (three) 🏝

Lombok is one of the Lesser Sunda Islands and is also called the 'Island of a thousand mosques'. The population here is mainly (strictly) Muslim. Apart from beach resorts such as Senggigi and Kuta, Lombok is still a wonderfully quiet island where it is good for diving and snorkelling in clear blue waters. 🤿Lombok is also popular among surfers and you will find beautiful unspoilt nature and green rice fields. The literal and figurative highlight of Lombok is the mighty 3727-metre-high Gunung Rinjani volcano with its Segara Anak crater lake.🌋

Organised Lombok tours are often in combination with Java.

Island Empat (four) Flores 🏝

The most beautiful nature 🌿 of all the Sunda Islands can be found on Flores. Not only will you find here extraordinary volcanoes with coloured crater lakes, but also savannahs, mountain forests and a magnificent underwater world. A must-do on Flores is the ascent of the Kelimutu volcano. On the way up, you will pass traditional villages and the view of the three crater lakes, which vary from green and turquoise to dark red, is amazing.

Island Lima (five) Komodo 🏝

Flores is easy to combine with the beautiful neighbouring island of Komodo. On this island, the infamous Komodo dragons 🦎 live and you will find beautiful white sandy beaches and the popular Pink Beach. 💗 As the large monitor lizards can be dangerous to humans, you are not allowed to visit the park on your own and must be accompanied by a guide. Komodo also offers great diving facilities and you can spot dolphins, sharks, giant mantas and even blue whales. Apart from the white sandy beaches, the landscape in Komodo National Park (which further consists of the islands of Rinca and Padar) is mainly lush green.🌿
